Dragon Beast Summer Training Camp

Train and Race with the Beasts

Sunday, June 30th to Saturday, July 6th, 2013

Lake Banook, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Inviting Dragon Boat enthusiasts of all skill levels to the First Annual Dragon Beast Training Camp, being held on Lake Banook in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia this summer.

The weeklong training camp will culminate with racing in the Manulife Dragon Boat Festival on July 6th, 2013.

The Manulife Festival is held on one of the best courses in the World, and typically attracts over 70 teams.

Participants will receive International Level coaching during the week, with 10 Dragon Boat sessions, two outrigger sessions, and two individual technical review sessions held.  This camp offers athletes the rare opportunity to participate in a focused training camp setting during the season, and to immediately implement fitness and technical advances made in the camp when participants return home.

Training sessions begin on Sunday, June 30th,, in the evening and continue until Friday the 5th.   A typical daily session would look like this;

7:30 AM Stretching/ Yoga

8 AM – Dragon Boat Practice

9:30  - 11 AM Off

11 AM – 1-hour session – video review/ individual help in the boat

12 PM  - 3:30 PM Off

3:30 PM Stretching/ Warm Up

4:00 PM Dragon Boat Practice

8 PM Happy Hour

Athletes will participate in two video review/ individual help sessions, and two outrigger sessions.  During the outrigger sessions, athletes will have the opportunity to paddle in an OC6!!  There will also be several talks offered throughout the week (attendance is optional – go to the ones that interest you) by special guest speakers.

When you aren’t training, there is lot’s to see and do in Halifax, one of the most historic cities in North America.   There will be no practices scheduled after noon on Wednesday to help with the sight seeing!

The camp fee is $350, taxes included.  This also includes the fee to race in the Manulife Dragon Boat Festival.   There is accommodation nearby within walking distance at the Quality Inn on Prince Albert Road.

There are also a number of hotels within a very short drive.

There are only a limited number of spaces for this camp.  Please contact me if you have any questions, or if you would like to register and reserve your spot with a $50 deposit.
